I decided to ask the family downstairs if i could photograph two of their daughters together.....they’re a really nice family that i have got on well with in the 3 months that i’ve been living here..... the children are comfortable in German, English and Turkish and attending a local school as opposed to an international school nearby which would be the norm......so they’ve got a much deeper feeling for life in Turkey over many other children.
At first they were really shy and didn’t want to be photographed; despite having got dressed up for the occasion! So we chatted for a while; drank tea and i took random photographs around the room and of the visiting in-laws so that they could get used to me. Next stage was quite formal as they wanted to pose for photographs; until in the end they got slightly bored of me thankfully. I was then able to photograph them over the next couple of hours as they played their musical instruments together, played with a board game, ate together and sketched together.....I wanted to balance their relationships to one another as well as in the context of the wider family and the environment around them as well... how they interacted, clashed and learnt from one another..
